Another project that was completed at Fedtech is a group of parts that were laser cut from 316 stainless steel. The initial blanks were cut to be 1.120" wide, 8.80" long, and would later be milled to insert holes .021" in diameter. The thickness of five human hairs (taking into consideration that the average thickness of a human hair is roughly .00388").
After the parts were laser cut and milled to the exact specifications, the parts were then outsourced for rolling to complete the project. Overall the amazement of this project is that the tiny holes were able to be precisely manufactured at their exactly dimensions, certainly a challenge to say the least.
