Waterjet Cutting in the Aircraft Industry
A lengthy and complex project just left FedTech’s building, and it was a true test of our skill. The objective here was to cut 5.5" Haynes 282 rounds that were sent to us by a customer.
We were to process the rounds into the fuel injector pieces for a jet. The process is a little bit trickier than it sounds though, as each pound of this material is extremely expensive. Thus, it was a job in need of a careful hand and an even more careful procedure. Not only this, but the equipment that was attached to the rounds could not get water on them, so necessary precautions needed to be taken to ensure this equipment was properly protected.
With skilled engineering and operating, we were able to successfully complete this project and meet every requirement the customer had given. The parts turned out very well, and will be used in the aircraft industry very soon.
