9.25" Waterjet Cut Aluminum

waterjet cutting of aluminumAluminum wasn’t made just for pop cans, as Fedtech recently found out. We were asked to waterjet cut 9.25" aluminum blocks with a cylinder shape cut out of the center. The process of choice was waterjet cutting.

By using waterjet cutting, we were able to process the
aluminum blocks and still keep the center drop in one piece. This is extremely beneficial for saving the customer material costs since this drop can then be used again or recycled.

Traditional means of processing aluminum blocks would have involved countless mounds of aluminum chips when the project was finished, instead of the full cylinder drop that waterjet cutting produces. This savings is passed onto the customer since that drop can actually be used again instead of wasted as the chips would be.

Thus we were very happy to be able to use waterjet cutting to process the aluminum blocks the way that the customer wanted, and save them the extra costs. The customer was very happy with the end results in this project.
