Waterjet Cutting Large Aluminum Plate
This abrasive waterjet cutting project took up our largest waterjet whose cutting envelope is 156" x 360". The aluminum plate that was being processed was 4" thick 6061 aluminum with dimensions of 240" x 72".
Since abrasive waterjet cutting is a trusted method for thick materials like 4" thick aluminum, this was the chosen method for processing the material. Waterjet cutting worked so well for this project because it is a process with
no HAZ, it uses compressed water up to 60,000 psi to cut the material with no burr and no distortion or warping of materials.
Waterjet is commonly being used to cut other materials like aluminum, such as stainless steel, carbon steel, steel alloys, armor plating and more. For a complete list of materials, you can see our Materials page or if you're curious to see our facilities, visit our facilities list!
