Fedtech Brings in the ‘Xpert'

Press Brake at FedtechSAINT PAUL, MINN., April 3, 2009 - A local job shop, Fedtech Inc., maintains its legendary trade mark of being on the cutting edge of industry trends with yet another addition to their production floor. This time, it was a chance to really step up and bring in something big - something 161" x 144" big.

The new Bystronic Beyeler Xpert 320 is a prominent contender in Swiss precision and is now a key player on Fedtech's production floor. The advanced press brake now brings the capability to form parts with 352 tons of force. The machinery offers 29" of open height (ideal for fabrication of deep boxes or lengthy flanges), an 18" RAM stroke, and hydraulic tool clamping for fast setup and heightened flexibility.

The Xpert 320 is coupled with Bybend graphic CAM software which permits direct importing of DXF, DWG, and IGES files. This versatile feature minimizes setup times and allows for quicker turnaround as well.

Tooling is another attribute emphasized on the Xpert 320. Fedtech's decision to pair the Xpert with Wila precision ground new standard style tooling improves the overall efficiency and quality of finished parts. Not only this, but the unique tool design does not require preloading. This allows for faster set up time between jobs.

Not to forget an even more evident feature on the Xpert is its built-in dynamic crowning which moves and adapts pressure in the bed according to the material being formed. This benefit ensures the accuracy of bends, regardless of the grain direction, material length or material thickness.

Fedtech Offers Solution Slats for Laser Cutting Users

Laser Cutting Copper SlatsST. PAUL, MINN. – Laser cutting machinery owners in St. Paul, Minnesota offer a simple alternative to replacing your laser cutting slats. Typically, laser users would operate using steel slats because of the stigma of costly replacement copper slats. However the steel slats suffer a short life span due to slag build up and a high wear rate, ultimately affecting the quality of parts that are being cut.

The common misconception about copper laser cutting slats being much more costly does not have to be true. Fedtech located in St. Paul, Minnesota, is now offering copper slats to their customers at 30-50% of the cost that OEM's sell slats for. A job shop in Missouri was the latest to purchase their replacement slats from Fedtech. They were pleased to receive their custom copper slats for 47% of the price that the OEM could offer.

A hesitation arises to many laser owners, as they know that copper isn't recommended to be cut with lasers because of their tendency to reflect the laser beam. When using copper slats, the amount of surface area is considerably less along with the material being processed above them, minimizes the risks involved with copper slats. More advantages associated with copper slats are life longevity, easier cleaning, and less frequent cleaning which increases machine up time.

"We've been using copper grating on our laser cutting machinery for over eight years." Says president of Fedtech, Dave Fox. "It's hard to believe we used to purchase them at such a high cost. I'm just happy we can provide the same savings to other shops in our industry now, especially with the way the economy has been."

Fedtech is a recognized manufacturer located just outside of the Twin Cities. Founded in 1996, they have developed a trusted job shop for their customers in the industry. To visit their website for laser grating, you can visit www.lasergrating.com, or their original homepage. Debut of Laser Cutting Machinery Cuts Materials and Time at Fedtech

Bystronic Bystar 4020August 14, 2008 - SAINT PAUL, MINN. – Minnesota's favorite job shop is at it again, this time bigger and better than ever. When we last spoke with Fedtech, they had just installed one of Bystronic's thoroughbreds of machines, the Byspeed 3015. Now they are at it again, as an even more impressive piece of machinery is making its way to Fedtech's production floor.

Coming this fall to Fedtech (mid-September), will be Bystronic's Bystar 4020, one of the most innovative, noteworthy pieces of laser cutting equipment in the industry. This remarkable system reaches cutting speeds of 1,969 inches per minute and can hold cutting tolerances of +/- .0012.

The Bystar 4020 cutting table can also hold approximately 3500 pounds of material on its 157"x 79" work envelope, leaving limitations a forgotten memory. In addition, the new laser cutting machinery will be coupled with a shuttle table system, and will also be equipped with Bystronic's BytransCross material automation. The shuttle table system enables smooth production with the automated cutting tables that alternate finished parts with raw material to keep the process moving quick and efficiently.

This new laser cutting system not only cuts parts, but cuts time as well, as the automation process certainly speeds up production, allowing for quicker turnaround on projects and an overall smoother manufacturing system. The new laser brings the capability to process even more sheet metal than ever before at Fedtech.

The new addition will definitely make quite a debut on Fedtech's production floor, and there's no question that customers will definitely be delighted to see their waiting times cut down as well.

Fedtech's Laser Cutting Capabilities Makes Them Beam

Byspeed 3015 Laser Cutting MachinerySAINT PAUL, MINN.  – Local job shop, Fedtech Inc., has been proud to serve their customer base with industrial laser cutting in the past, and they are now taking that to a whole new level. Assembled not too long ago, was a brand new Bystronic Byspeed 3015, one of the finest in laser cutting machinery.

The new Byspeed laser achieves cutting tolerances of plus/minus .005", with a 120" x 60" work envelope, coupled with a 4400 Watt resonator to increase power efficiency and reduce electrical usage during processing. This investment has been crucial for Fedtech because it allows them to be more productive than ever before. Not only this, but the enhanced technology does wonders on the production floor aiding the manufacturing of quality products with a quick turnaround.

Byspeed 3015 Laser CuttingLaser cutting is typically used to process flat materials. The Byspeed laser can process these materials with power from 2.8 up to 4.4 kW, which gives Fedtech the capability to cut directly through the many different types of material with greater accuracy and precision than traditional laser cutting systems.

Another feature included on the Byspeed is its closed machine compartment which is more environmentally friendly. The closed compartment helps to reduce emissions that are otherwise let off with conventional open laser machinery. Outside of the closed compartment is the automatic table loader, which includes high-powered vacuum suction lifting that carries materials from a stack of inventory over the cutting table. This option gives the advantage of being able to safely load the cutting table quickly and without hassle or chaos.

Fedtech Steps Up With a Valuable New Addition

June 09, 2008 – SAINT PAUL, MINN. – A recent development at Fedtech, Inc. has turned tremendous tasks into everyday projects. Their latest purchase was not only a brand new system in waterjet machinery, but a massive one at that.

This large addition contributes much to production as it has a cutting envelope of 156" x 360", allowing for multiple large sheets of material to be loaded and cut all at the same time. Not only that, but it then creates impressive results by delivering cutting accuracies of plus/minus .010".

Waterjet Cutting MachineryThe machinery is also equipped with Accustream's newest intensifier pump (the 60150 HP) which allows for continuous cutting pressures of up to 60,000 psi. This in return, supplies ultra-high pressured water to more heads, enabling more work to be done in less time. All this growth within the company gives Fedtech reason to anticipate much faster turn-around rates, and they are excited for the work ahead of them with the new waterjet machinery.
