Filtration Parts
The project in the spotlight this time, is a carefully constructed part for the diary industry. When the customer's prints specifically needed burr-free, scratch-free parts, they knew they'd come to the right place.
The print called for 18 gage 304 stainless steel circles, 16.5" in diameter. When these circles were laser cut, they were sent to our machining center for the next stage. Here, the stainless steel circles would each have 4,500 tiny (.9mm) holes drilled into them. It was critical that these parts not have any burrs or scratches whatsoever, because if the dairy products got stuck on a burr or scratch, bacteria could easily form.
After the parts were burr-free and perfected, they were then sent for electro-polishing where the parts would receive an ultimate shine and finish. When all is said and done, the laser cut and machined orifice plates made will be used somewhere in the pasteurization process.
